Report to NLAF - November 2008
Aims
At the last meeting NLAF established a new working group for children’s care and protections matters. The aim of the working group is to establish strategies to ensure appropriate referrals in children’s care and protection matters. These will include:
- Analysis of service providers
- Co-ordination of training to ensure effective referrals for care and protection issues
- Development of a Communication Strategy to inform legal and nonlegal agencies about care and protection services.
Progress Report
Mapping of Service Providers
The table mapping children’s care and protection services is being finalised for comment prior to publication. The Law Society. Bar Association and PILCH have provided content along with Community Legal Centres.
The next step will be drafting guidelines for appropriate referrals at the different stages of care and protection matters.
Training
Training has been organised for 17 November 2008. Legal Aid Care & Protection solicitor will be training LawAccess and Community Legal Centre legal officers.
